ABOUT JONATHAN SAUER

Jonathan Sauer – Photographer | Visual Artist

Jonathan Sauer is a passionate photographer and visual artist based in the Western Cape, South Africa. Born in Mainz, Germany, in 2000, Jonathan has lived and travelled across Australia, Spain, Germany, the United States, and South Africa—experiences that have shaped his global perspective and creative style.

 

In November 2024, he completed his bachelor’s degree in visual arts and communication at the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography. His work focuses on portraiture, lifestyle, product, and landscape photography, combining strong visual storytelling with a sensitivity to light and emotion.

Jonathan’s journey began in Spain, where he completed a multi-level professional photography course covering studio techniques, portraiture, and commercial work.

 

Driven by a deep love for the medium, he later worked in Germany to fund his formal photography studies in South Africa.

 

His portfolio includes a variety of commercial and creative projects. In 2022, he photographed a campaign for BMW South Africa, capturing both cars and motorcycles in lifestyle-driven settings. He has also worked with Oakpics in Somerset West, where he photographed triathlon events, gaining fast-paced event experience and enhancing his action photography skills.

Jonathan has exhibited at Art 4 Seasons in Somerset West, created a large mural wallpaper for Dr. Theresa Jordaan’s medical practice, and sells framed prints at Framez Store in Somerset West.

Working between Stellenbosch and Cape Town, Jonathan continues to bring technical excellence, creative vision, and a deep sense of storytelling to every project he undertakes.
